NOTE: The general information on 2024-25 salmon and steelhead fisheries in Washington waters will be announced sometime after the fishing are set in early April.

Below is general information on current 2023-24 salmon and steelhead fisheries in Washington waters. All fisheries are subject to change.

These season summaries are not meant to be comprehensive regulations; more details and regulations for each area will be included in the 2023-24 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet, which outlines the regulations from July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024 and will be available in early summer 2023.

Anglers should also check for any emergency regulation changes for changes to fisheries before heading out.

Proposed 2024 ocean waters fisheries (Marine Areas 1-4)

2024 proposed ocean salmon catch quotas

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) approved the proposed the three options for the 2024 recreational salmon fishing seasons in ocean waters three to 200 nautical miles off the Pacific coast. The final ocean fisheries will be adopted on April 6-11 at the PFMC meetings in Seattle.

Option one: 42,500 Chinook and 88,200 marked coho.

  • Neah Bay (Marine Area 4): Open seven days per week from June 15 through earlier of Sept. 30, or 9,170 marked coho subarea quota with a subarea guideline of 9,780 Chinook. No Chinook retention east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line beginning Aug. 1.
